Listen to your body

“It may sound obvious, but only a few people practise this rule. Be mindful of what’s happening in your body and pay attention to warning signals. If your stomach is telling you it’s full, stop eating immediately – even if that pakoda is literally begging you to eat it. If your mind is too tired and needs a nap, take a nap. If your body is telling you something is wrong with it, don’t ignore the alarm bells – get yourself checked. When you’re in sync with your body, you’ll be surprised at the drastic improvement in your quality of life and energy levels.”
Dr. Anupama Patil, Radiologist, MSK Imaging

Reduce screen time

“Today, we’re spending an inordinate amount of time in front of our screens. This leads to a host of problems including vision trouble, headaches, shoulder and back pain and surprisingly, even heart problems. We urgently need to reduce our screen time and spend more time outdoors, and especially encourage our children to do so too.”

Dr. Shailendra Walunj, General Radiology

Practice positive thinking

“Countless studies have proven that optimistic patients with a positive outlook tend to recover and fight diseases better than those who have a negative mindset – and we’ve experienced this first-hand too, amongst our patients.  What works for me is positive visualization – When I have a negative thought, I replace it with a positive image – this improves my mood and helps me stay motivated.”
Dr. Unmesh Bhosale, Radiologist, MSK Imaging

Cook at home

“Our busy schedules today and the proliferation of food delivery services are leading us to eat more outside food than we should. In our family, we’ve made it a rule to eat out only once a month and cook all other meals at home, in the healthiest manner possible. Cooking has another big benefit – you feel a little less guilty treating yourself to pizzas, cakes, etc. when they’re all made at home, from scratch!”
Dr. Sonali Deshmukh, Radiologist, Ultrasound

Practice the 20-minute rule

“Walk briskly, follow a pre-determined exercise routine or go for a run – but whatever you do, make sure you get in 20 minutes of physical activity per day. If you think about it, sparing 20 minutes from 720 minutes (12 hours) is not hard at all, especially if it’s going to help you live longer. So, follow the 20-minute rule as if your life depends on it because it does!
